Nutrano Secures Tangold® and Gold Nugget® Marketing License

27 JULY 2026

An agreement has been reached for Nutrano Produce Group to take on the marketing rights for the Tangold® and Gold Nugget® varieties, assuming marketing license responsibilities previously held by Global Produce.

The transition brings the two mandarin programs into Nutrano’s vertically integrated grower, packer and marketer model, supporting continuity for these IP varieties while creating a platform for disciplined brand stewardship, varietal integrity and long-term market development.

David Jordan, CEO of Nutrano Produce Group, welcomed the addition of the IP varieties into Nutrano's growing portfolio of premium brands.

"Nutrano is well positioned to support the continued development of these licensed varieties through our vertically integrated business model, upgraded packing facilities and established market access capabilities."

"The teams at Global Produce and Nu Leaf have done an exceptional job establishing these world-class varieties and building a strong foundation for their next phase. Nutrano's operational expertise, brand management experience and marketing capabilities will help strengthen the programs, support licensed growers and deliver premium fruit experiences for consumers."

Tangold® and Gold Nugget® are licensed mandarin varieties developed by the University of California Riverside and managed in Australia by Nu Leaf IP. They are grown and marketed under formal licensing arrangements, with programs focused on consistent quality and protected varietal integrity.

Matt Cottrell, General Manager of Nu Leaf, welcomes Nutrano’s involvement alongside the current licensed marketers and said Nutrano's experience in managed variety programs will continue to provide confidence in the future for Tangold and Gold Nugget.

"Nutrano has experience managing trademarked and licensed brands with systems and commitment required to protect varietal integrity and support sustainable long-term growth," Mr Cottrell said.

Global Produce Director Mano Babiolakis expressed confidence in Nutrano's ability to build on the success of both varieties.

"Nutrano was the natural choice to take stewardship of these premium brands," Mr Babiolakis said.

"Their proven capability in managing intellectual property brands, combined with their strong operational infrastructure and market reach, provides a solid platform for Tangold® and Gold Nugget® to continue thriving and expanding across Australia and into international markets."

Tangold® and Gold Nugget® are licensed mandarin varieties managed and marketed through formal licensing arrangements in Australia. The agreement takes effect immediately, with Nutrano assuming day-to-day marketing licensing responsibilities from Global Produce. Existing growers and stakeholders will be supported through the transition by both the team at Global Produce and Nutrano to ensure a smooth process.
