Citrus

Our mandarins, lemons, oranges and grapefruits are of the highest quality, produced by our dedicated citrus growers all over Australia.

Australia’s diverse climate is renowned for its prime citrus conditions, allowing our local growers to produce the finest, most delicious fruit possible.

With citrus farms in three regions — Katherine (NT), Gin Gin (QLD) and Sunraysia (VIC) — we have strong geographic diversity and a number of highly reputable brands for Australian and International markets.

Mandarins

Mandarins are one of Australia’s most beloved citrus fruits. We grow Australia’s favourite mandarin varieties, focusing on easy peel and seedless, which are most popular in both local and export citrus markets.

Imperial

Golden orange colour with some seeds. Imperial mandarins have a thin skin making them easy to peel.

Afourer

Also known as W.Murcott or Nadorcott mandarins, this variety has a deep red-orange colour with very few seeds. Exceptionally juicy and easy to peel. Most of Nutrano's Afourer mandarin crop is grown and sold as seedless.

Murcott

A late season mandarin with a high juice content. Firm smooth skin. These are favourite amongst our Australian citrus growers and the citrus export market alike.

Our citrus growers recommend mandarins with a smooth skin and a bright glossy orange colour. Choose heavier fruits as they will be juicer and packed with flavour.

Lemons

Our citrus growers have perfected the lemon production process, growing some of Australia’s finest lemon varieties. We are famous for the high quality of our locally-grown lemons, and are incredibly proud of the exceptional quality and scale of both our seeded and seedless lemons.

Eureka Lemons

Eureka Lemons have smooth thin skin with a high juice content.

Wax Free Lemons

Wax Free Lemons have a natural appearance, just like homegrown lemons.

tips

To extract the most juice, roll your lemons on the kitchen bench before cutting them in half.

Lemon juice and zest adds a healthy and delicious zing to meals, and helps to reduce intake of salt, fat and sugar.

Oranges

We grow a variety of oranges, ensuring plentiful supply all year-round. Locally grown Navel oranges are available in early, mid and late season, and Valencia is another popular variety.

Navel

With their rich orange colour, Navel oranges are sweet, juicy, seedless and easy to peel.

Cara Cara

A natural offshoot of the Washington navel orange, Cara Cara oranges have red flesh and a sweet flavour.

Blood oranges

Blood Oranges are known for their distinctive dark maroon colour flesh and dark orange skin.

Look for glossy fruit that feels heavy. This means they are full of juice and flavour.

Grapefruit

Grapefruits are a tropical citrus fruit renowned for their sweet and somewhat sour taste. Our growers are able to produce this highly nutritious fruit throughout every season, providing our customers with the highest quality product year-round.

Ruby Red

Red flesh grapefruit with a pink blush on the skin. This variety is slightly more sweet than the white flesh grapefruit.

tips

Similarly to oranges, you want a grapefruit to be slightly oval in shape, as overly round citrus fruits are likely to be bitter and underripe.

The Sunwest Brand is named after our flagship citrus property in Sunraysia. The black label signifies our premium line and the blue is used for composite-grade fruit.

Abbotsleigh Citrus

The Abbotsleigh brand has built a strong reputation for high quality lemons and murcott mandarins in both the local and international market. The white label is used for the best citrus, and the purple is used for composite-grade fruit.

Royal Orchards

Flagship brand used to market the finest quality citrus.

Delite

Australian-grown Delite mandarins are exclusive to Woolworths from July to November. A popular variety for their sweet, seedless flesh and easy-to-peel skin.

Sweet & Juicy

Sweet & Juicy mandarins are a popular choice for the export market.

Farm Patch

New citrus range developed predominantly for our prepack range. Each and every citrus fruit grown with care and nurtured by our Aussie farmers.

Billy Cart

Produced predominantly for export markets, the Billy Cart brand was developed to market multiple citrus varieties.

ONE

Produced predominantly for export markets, the One brand was developed to market multiple citrus varieties. The black label signifies our premium line, while the red label is kept for composite grade fruit.

SupeRed

SupeRed is used to market our premium quality ruby red grapefruit.

Citrus farms

Sunraysia
We have 404 ha planted on 3 farms (Sunwest, Hattah and Tarcoola). Our large modern Packing Shed is located close to farm with capacity of 2,400 citrus cartons per hour. We also offer grading, packing and cool storage facilities.
Katherine
Eumaralla Farm grows mangoes, lemons and grapefruit. It has a packing capacity of 1,000 citrus cartons and 2,500 mango trays per hour. We also offer packing facilities to other growers in the area.
Western Australia
We work closely with a number of citrus growers with a combined footprint circa 480 ha. These growers are key suppliers to the Delite Mandarin programme.
Riverina
We work closely with Citrus growers in the Riverina region on the packing, marketing and distribution of their fruit.
Central Burnett
We have 184ha planted with Citrus and Blueberries. Our large modern Packing Shed is located onsite with capacity of 1,600 mandarin cartons per hour. We also offer grading, packing and cool storage facilities to growers in the area.
